On April 14, 2026 the first Steering Committee meeting of the EU FIRESTAT 2 project took place,
with participation of representatives of DG GROW, Ministries and Fire and Rescue Services of more than 15 EU Member States,
various European and international organisations that collect data and are interested in fire statistics,
and the project consortium (which involves Efectis, DBI - The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology,
Teched Consulting Services, University of Liverpool, CTIF - International Association of Fire Services
and ZAG - Zavod za gradbeništvo Slovenije).
The meeting aimed to introduce Member States to the project, present its tasks and timeline, and outline the expected engagement of data collection points.
Teched’s experts presented the planned activities and envisaged outcomes over the next four years for project tasks covering the design and implementation of the fire safety database and system for access to the database (Task 2),
testing the database, organisation of a helpdesk and iterative improvement of the system (Task 4).
Several topics were addressed during the discussion related to Tasks 2 and 4, including the data collection process,
data access rules, and data security, with valuable feedback gathered from EU Member States
