On April 21, 2026 Teched successfully finalized the project “Development of a system for monitoring outcomes of outpatient treatment with an emphasis on chronic patients in public pharmacies” (abbreviated as: PILK).
The system PILK was implemented for the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia and Croatian Chamber of Pharmacists (HLJK) as the main beneficiary.
Other stakeholders of the project included Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO) and Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices (HALMED).
The project PILK emerged from a HLJK’s long-standing aspiration to systematically collect and document data related to patient visits and established pharmacy processes that have traditionally lacked digital support,
thereby enhancing the role of pharmacists.
The project included the development and implementation of more than ten protocols for public pharmacies:
- input of pharmacological history,
- protocol for introduction to a new medicine therapy,
- monitoring patient adherence in medicine treatments,
- checking medicine interactions,
- monitoring status of selected chronic diseases (diabetes, asthma, hypertension, COPD, mental diseases, obesity disease),
- protocol for antimicrobial resistance,
- reporting on errors in prescribing medicines,
- protocol for national preventive programmes,
- communication of pharmacists with family medical doctors, etc.
PILK is designed for 2400 active users and has been in use since January 1, 2026.
The data entered in a particular pharmacy can be seen with read only access in other Croatian pharmacies that dispense prescription medicines,
which contributes to the comprehensive monitoring of patient outcomes and increased safety in medicine administration.
